Daniel Murphy is a photographic artist based in Manchester, creating work that is driven by narrative and investigations of character. Through a practice that centres on analogue processes, Murphy utilises tone and texture to create a consistent sense of atmosphere, of which now defines his outcomes.

Daniel aims to blur the line between his personal and commercial work as an effort of bringing his style and process to a designated brief; benefitting not just the visual presence of the outcomes but acting as a catalyst when depicting and stylising the narrative at hand. The development of distinct visual traits and technical processes has allowed for application to editorial, event and portraiture shoots.

Upon the completion of his Photography BA(hons) at Manchester Art School, Daniel produced 'Touching Distance' - realised as a 64 page publication, as well as colour handprints displayed at the Art School Degree Show. His work on display won him three awards - The Lowry Student Award; The Castlefield Gallery Award; DS Colour Labs Award.
